SECL Expands for 2023 Campaign!

SECL Expands to Huntsville and North Louisiana for 2023 Season!

The Southeast Collegiate League announces the 4th summer season in 2023, providing a local Summer College Season for baseball players in the southeastern United States. Two new divisions will be added next summer as the league expands into Huntsville, Alabama and North Louisiana. These additions expand the league from Jackson, Hattiesburg, Memphis, Birmingham, Mobile, and South Louisiana to now include the Northern Alabama/South Tennessee Region as well all of the Northern Louisiana/South Arkansas area.

The Huntsville Division will be led by a veteran baseball coach in Johnny Johnson. Coach Johnson enters his fifth year as head baseball coach of the James Clemens Jets, after serving as head coach at Fort Payne (AL) High School for 14 years. In his short time at JC, he has seen 10 Jets set flight into college baseball and holds the all-time wins record at James Clemens. Prior to his stint in Fort Payne, Coach Johnson was the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Texas-Pan American (NCAA Div I). He also served as Pitching Coach for the Edinburg Roadrunners, champions of the Texas-Louisiana Professional Baseball League, and as Pitching Coach for the league All-Star team in 2001. Coach Johnson's first coaching position was as an Assistant Coach at Texas Wesleyan University. His college pitching was performed at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

The North Louisiana Division will be led by Founder and President of Knights Knation, Jack Cressend. Cressend pitched for Tulane University and signed with the Boston Red Sox in the mid-90s. He reached the big leagues with the Minnesota Twins, making his MLB debut in 2000, the first of five seasons pitching in the Major Leagues. Jack has been a part of the SECL since 2021 as the Louisiana Director and will now cover the entire state with his network. SECL Directors Include:

Mississippi: Chris Snopek (Ole Miss/Chicago White Sox)

Tennessee: Ed Easley (Mississippi State/St. Louis Cardinals)

Louisiana: Jack Cressend (Tulane/Minnesota Twins)

Mobile: Adam Heisler (South Alabama/Baltimore Orioles)

Birmingham: Lee Gann (Samford/Seattle Mariners)

Huntsville: Johnny Johnson (St. Mary’s University/20+ Year Veteran Coach)
